We don't see much mussel in Japan.
Yes, we have some but mainly imported one from NZ or Australia.
Mussel in France is generally tiny.
It sells almost like clam in Japan and really reasonable price.
I found mussel at fish shop, 4 euros /kg, I used them for paella.
We can easily cook on the pan.
I still used old recipe that I found Japanese cooking magazine "Orange page" around 15 years ago(!), it takes around 40 mins to finish.
It would be nice whe you invite someone at home.
It seems I used lots mussel in it, but actually I used some, just 250g.
Add bell peppers, tomatoes, green beans, maybe it cost 4 euros in total?
We two had it as dinner, then my partner took some as lunch box, so really economical menu, I think.

Really sunny and warm afternoon.
I was taking a walk up to Suquet in old Cannes area.
This is a church.
We can see yacht harbor, there are lots expensive boats!
I could see some people are swimming on the beach, but I think its too cold to swim.
Most of people are just sitting on the beach.
I found funny name street on the way back.
Buther's street?
Not like in Japan, in France all streets have their name, sometimes we can find funny one.
The other day I went to small village Biot, then I found "Place de catastrophe".
There is story about this place, there was big accident while party and lots people died there.
mmmm, I don't feel like to put my address with such name!

We found not only blackberry but also another things.
This is that.
Thyme is really common herb in south france, it glows everywhere.
It was on the hill so not straight at all.
To compare the size, I put it next to slippers.
you know, if you buy the same amount of this, it costs more than 4 euros!

Today's dinner is quiche.
Mushrooms, bacon and onion in it.
It must be hard to make all dough!
no, no, in fact I used.....
these already-made pastry dough.
We have so many offers for such kind of dough in France.
1 sheet costs around 1euros for 30cm tart.
A problem is that it contains margarines not only butter, so when you cook it smells a bit.
And its even much cheaper if you do it by yourself.
I will do it next time....

Some facts give me feelings i'm really living in France.
Not too perfect shaped cakes and tarts (if I compare to french cakes in Japan)
Yes, this is "French" style.
I remember the first time when I started to live in France 4 years ago I was surprised a lot about these things.
Now I reconfirm that I'm living here, and bought some cheap green beans(less than 2dollors/kg) then back home.

Enjoying drive go to mountains on sunny weekend.
A bit difficult to recognize, but the horizen over is mediterranean sea.
This is really easy mountain to get on the top by car, so we start to walking to go down not to climb.
And we found a fabulous thing on the way.
Full of blackberries!
Now we changed our plan from walking to picking up blackberries.
When we realized, this amount.
Tomorrow, it gonna be "Blackberry tart" day.

I found "Angel hair pasta" in super market.
I cook them in the chiken soup.

Today I visited small village named Biot near Nice.
So blue sky!
It looks like Itarian village rather than French.
Why Itarian?
Because each houses are connected each other.
We often can see such village near Italy but not much in France.
Its really luxurious place, we can enjoy mountain and mediterranian sea at the same time.

I'm not vegan neither normal vegetarian, but still I cannot survive without eating vegetables.
Today's lunch is almost vegan menu.
-Carotte rape salad
-Fresh radish
-Fresh tomate and zucchini Spaghetti
Just them, I cann be really full.
This time my flight from Tokyo through Amsterdam was KLM, I ordered "Vegetarian menu" in advance.
When I take long flight, I always don't feel like to eat meat or fish, just having some fruits and vegetable that is in it, so it was good choice!
There were Safrron flavored rice, ratatouille, bell pepper's salad and fruits, really gentle to my tired stomach.
If you have image flight meal is not too good or cannot expect much, you should try to order "vegetarian meal" once.
Today's lunch is almost vegan menu.

I just moved to Cannes, France.
The name "Cannes" sounds really celeblity image, of course, its all because well known for "Cannes film festival".
Maybe not so much people know where is Cannes exactly.
Here it is.
It locates quite far from French capital, Paris.
By express train "TGV", it takes around 5 hours.
If you see closer,
Actually our normal life in Cannes is really far from its celebrity image, however we can also enjoy this local life here.
I will introduce these local stories with this blog.
